Understanding attachments
John Bowlby - Critical period, maternal deprivation. innate attachments, seperation anxiety, internal working model, monotropy. 

Mary Ainsworth - Strange situation experiment, secure, insecure avoidant, insecure ambivalent, disorganised attachment styles.

Michael Rutter - Privation (never formed) vs deprivation (separated).

Rudolf Schaffer & Peggy Emerson - The quality and type of attachment which is formed. 
Asocial (0 - 6 weeks), Indiscriminate attachment (6 weeks - 7 months), specific (7 months +), Multiple attachment (10 months+)

Research Schaffer & Emerson's 4 stages of attachment and summarise in own books.

Receptive & Expressive language
Receptive language - Is receiving language, being able to listen and understand basic instructions. Non verbal communication can support acknowledgment.
Expressive language - Is when a child is able to use language, even a singular sentence. They begin to merge in to the expressive stage.

Using the words above, answer the following questions in your book. 
1. Explain how books can be used to promote language development for a 2 year old. 
2. Explain how nursery rhymes can be used to promote development for a 6 month old. 
3. Identify two ways in which a 14 year olds vocabulary can be development.
